POS Software

Flowerland

Infinity enables the management of almost limitless amounts of data

“Infinity POS software is the ideal cost-effective solution for Flowerland. The inventory management software has enabled us to produce accurate management reports. In particular we are easily able to measure gross margin by product, identify the optimum selling price and establish the speed in which our products move.” Hugh Evans, Managing Director

Flowerland is a leading independent ‘hobby department store’, with garden supplies being the largest segment of Flowerland’s 100,000 product lines. Operating from two centres in Buckinghamshire, England, Flowerland provides thousands of customers with products from specialist plants, paving stones and barbeque sets, to furniture, lighting and kitchen equipment.

Flowerland’s requirements

Because of the sheer size of Flowerland’s product lines, extracting meaningful data such as volumes, margins and stock holdings was proving to be near impossible. At a customer level, Flowerland's legacy POS software did not process part-payments for larger ticket items such as garden furniture, and couldn’t handle individual customer orders in Flowerland's on-site restaurant.

At a management level, the existing POS software couldn’t be easily interrogated. Slow-moving lines, optimum selling prices and adequate stock levels couldn’t be established, and the software wasn’t integrated with Flowerland's loyalty scheme.

The Infinity POS solution

Infinity changed everything for Flowerland. Firstly, the Flowerland team was impressed that Infinity uniquely uses Microsoft SQL Server technology, as compared to alternative POS systems. This technology lets Infinity POS efficiently manage almost limitless amounts of data, something that Flowerland particularly needed.

Secondly, Infinity’s analytics package gives the Flowerland team all the measurement tools and management reports it needs. The reports include margin analysis, profit generation by line and by department and investment required in additional stock.

Thirdly, Infinity POS is easily customised so part-payments and bespoke customer solutions are easily managed by retail colleagues.

After fully understanding Flowerland’s needs and getting the go-ahead, the Triquestra UK team got to work on implemeting Infinity.

A total of 14 till points across the two locations were installed with Infinity POS software working alongside the legacy system for two days. Following this successful trial period, the legacy system was switched off, leaving Infinity as the sole POS system. Staff training took just two days because Infinity is so simple to learn.

Training and guidance were also given to Flowerland’s head office in regards to running reports, extracting data and analysing the findings.
